About the Role
We are looking for a Category Manager – Food & Beverages who will own the end-to-end performance of the category.
This role goes beyond procurement. You will act as the Business Owner for Food & Beverages - driving assortment strategy, vendor partnerships, pricing, monetization, availability, and P&L performance.
You will work closely with sourcing, supply chain, marketing, and store operations teams to ensure the category delivers strong growth, margins, and customer value.
What you will be doing
Category Ownership & Growth
- Own the complete P&L for the Food & Beverages category
- Define and execute category growth strategy
- Build and optimize assortment based on customer demand, seasonality, and regional preferences
- Ensure right pricing architecture aligned to value positioning and margin goals
Vendor Management & Brand Partnerships
- Identify, onboard, and manage key vendors and brand partners
- Negotiate commercial terms, margins, and trade agreements
- Drive joint business planning (JBP) with strategic brands
- Build long-term partnerships to unlock exclusives and better commercial structures
Monetization & Revenue Enhancement
- Drive monetization through trade marketing, promotions, visibility programs, and brand-funded initiatives
- Identify new revenue levers within the category
- Optimize promotional strategies to balance growth and profitability
Availability & Inventory Alignment
- Ensure high on-shelf availability across stores
- Work closely with supply chain and planning teams to reduce stock-outs and dead stock
- Maintain updated assortment and pricing across stores and E-Com
Data & Performance Tracking
- Track category KPIs: revenue, margin, inventory turns, sell-through, vendor performance
- Use data to identify growth opportunities and corrective actions
- Continuously improve category playbook and processes
What we would like to see in you
- 3–6 years of experience in Category Management within FMCG/Retail/E-Com/Quick Commerce
- Strong exposure to Food & Beverages category
- Proven experience in vendor management and commercial negotiations
- Experience driving brand partnerships and monetization initiatives
- Strong analytical and P&L ownership mindset
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
- High ownership and comfort working in a fast-scaling startup
